I love smoothies made with fresh and frozen produce from our garden! Hands down, my favorite smoothie is this sweet & tangy gluten-free Raspberry Peach Smoothie.
September has become my favorite time of year. My kids go back to school with excitement, the weather finally starts to cool off, and we can spend several nights a week harvesting peaches and raspberries from our backyard.
I love filling our freezer full of all of this delicious fresh fruit. One of my favorite things to make with frozen berries is smoothies. I love how I can include all sorts of healthy stuff in smoothies, they are easy to make, and my whole family loves how they taste.
Several years ago my husband discovered that we had three”volunteer” peach trees… growing out of our compost bin! They appeared pretty strong, so he decided to transplant them to an unused corner of our backyard and see what happened. Amazingly, they all three not only survived, but thrived, and grew to the point that he had to eliminate one of them so that we have room for two strong trees to grow. The peaches from these trees are the hugest, sweetest freestone peaches I’ve ever had. The only unfortunate thing is that they are of course all ripe at about the same time and we can’t possibly eat that many! We slice, but don’t peel, most of the peaches, lay them out cookie sheets, and flash freeze them. Once frozen, we transfer to freezer bags. By flash freezing the peaches first, they won’t all stick together. Now we have multiple bags of frozen peaches so we can enjoy smoothies for the next six months or so!
Feel free to adapt the recipe as needed to suit your liking and preference for ingredients. You can use your favorite brand of yogurt.
When using this as a meal replacement, I always use the protein powder. When I make this as a beverage to serve with a meal, I omit the protein powder and instead sweeten with a little agave or honey.
For the protein powder, the one I’ve been using for several years is Lifetime Life’s Basics Plant Protein, Vanilla. I like that it is not gritty, and doesn’t give a weird taste or aftertaste. I’m sure there are several other reliable brands; I just stopped looking once I found this one that I liked. I’d love to hear if you have a favorite brand of protein powder that you recommend.

Raspberry Peach Smoothie Recipe:
Raspberry Peach Smoothie {Gluten-free}
Hands down, my favorite smoothie is this sweet & tangy gluten-free Raspberry Peach Smoothie. It's easily made dairy-free too!
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt (or non-dairy yogurt alternative)
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 3/4 - 1 cup fresh or frozen peaches (I leave peels on!)
- 1/2 cup fresh baby spinach leaves
- 1/2 scoop gluten-free vanilla protein powder (optional)
- agave nectar or honey (optional - I omit when using vanilla protein powder)
Instructions
- If your peaches are frozen, place in mug/glass bowl and microwave about 20 seconds just to soften a bit.
- Place all ingredients in blender. Blend for two cycles to completely blend all ingredients together.
Notes
If you omit the vanilla protein powder, you may want to add a sweetener. I've used agave and honey. Just sweeten to taste.

This is the best tasting smoothie recipe I've found so far. I use the vanilla yogurt, though plain is good too. I use all frozen fruit (ends up making it almost like a frozen yogurt and really cold, but I find it's easier to get the frozen fruit and keep them in the freezer for later use). Another good combination with the peaches and banana, are mangoes instead of raspberries! Mangoes are one of the most awesome fruits for smoothies (if you like their taste ;) ) and mixed with banana and peaches it tastes really good. I've done several fruit combinations with this and all of them taste great. :D
