Review: Goldfish Puffs

Please note that this is from September of 2013. As of 2019, it appears Goldfish Puffs have been discontinued as I’m unable to find it in any stores or online.
This summer, Pepperidge Farm came out with a new Goldfish snack that is gluten-free. I was contacted by them and given the opportunity to review these three new products and give away some for my readers to try! I couldn’t pass up that opportunity!
So many kids miss out on getting to eat regular Goldfish crackers because of the gluten in them. While these new Goldfish Puffs aren’t meant to be the same as regular Goldfish crackers, they certainly provide a safe and yummy alternative. Goldfish Puffs are made in a certified gluten-free facility which is certified gluten-free by the GFCO. Reading that definitely put my mind (and stomach) at ease.
I planned snack time one night last weekend for our family to review all three flavors of the Goldfish Puffs. I made some little scoring sheets so we could all include our opinions of the flavors. Out of the 5 of us that tried them, 2 loved the Buffalo Wing flavor the best, 1 loved the Cheddar Bacon flavor best, and I liked the Mega Cheese flavor best. I wasn’t really sure what to expect the texture to be like, but they were somewhere between a cracker and those puffy Cheetos. The flavors were really bold.

I can really see gluten-free kids and teens liking these more than adults. While we eat snacks like this sparingly at home, these are definitely something I’ll buy for a treat, road trip, or to bring for all of the kids to eat at football or soccer practice. I love that a snack item like this can be found easily at the local store, bought for a reasonable price, and served to a whole group of kids, without leaving any gluten-free kids out. None of the kids would turn their noses up at these or even notice they are gluten-free. Your gluten-free kid or teen can finally bring a fun, cool snack to share! Thank you Pepperidge Farm for making a snack like this! I’m really hoping their next product will be gluten-free Goldfish crackers.
Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® Puffs are available in major supermarkets, grocery stores and mass merchandisers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.99 for a 7oz bag. A 2oz bag is also available in convenience stores for a suggested retail price of $.99.

A gluten free snack for and old favorite. Have to go with Hostess Cupcakes. I ‘am sure that someone will come up with and idea how to make them gluten free.
I love that these are available at convenience stores….the large bags will make a great add-in for a gf care package for mycollege daughter!
My fav snack is Indoor S’mores, so I’d say Golden Grahams, so I could make them for all my gluten-free friends!
Yay! I am so excited to see more kid friend Certified G/F foods. I have a two year old that was diagnosed with CD six months ago. It’s a learning experience but it sure makes a huge difference.
Thanks for the comment today, Michelle! It made me smile. 🙂 I’d love to enter the giveaway because even though I don’t have kids (and, I suppose, am not really a kid anymore) I’m very curious about these puffs. This isn’t exactly a snack, but I am waiting for someone to make GF filo dough. But ALSO, I really want Snyder’s to recreate their hard sourdough pretzels. I used to looove those.
Your description is tantalizing. I can’t wait to try all three flavors:p
I have been gluten free for awhile now and I definitely miss crackers and snacks the most! I’ll be trying these once I see them in the store 🙂
English muffins!!
I would love a gluten free apple fritter from Tim Horton’s.
The one snack I’d love to be made gluten-free…..CHOCODILES!!!!!!!
I didn’t know Goldfish were gluten free. Thank you!
Denise, to clarify, Goldfish crackers are NOT gluten-free. They have gluten. The only gluten-free product made by them are these new Goldfish Puffs.
I’d love to have a gluten-free key lime pie!
I wish more cracker varieties were made GF. Also if more of the things like Little Debbie were GF that would be amazing!
My son would love these. He had to go gf about a month ago so he misses his cracker.
Fun giveaway, Michelle!
I saw these in the store and wanted to try them. Of course, I typically wait for the coupons first 😉
My kids would love these”
I have wanted to try these but haven’t found them yet.
I would love for so many things to be turned gluten free. I miss so many things. Definitely gluten free donuts at dunkin donuts or better gluten free crackers and chicken noodle soup.
this is awesome!!! do they just happen to be gluten free? i dont see it mentioned on the bag there….
Chelsey, they are labeled gluten-free on the back. I’m not sure why they don’t have it obvious on the front of the bag. They have assured me, and stated in their press release, that they are certified gluten-free made in a gluten-free facility!
thats great to hear! i just checked them out on their site too. i love when things happen to be gluten free. so these would just be in the regular cracker aisle?
the price seems very reasonable too. i always have missed cheese nips and these seem like they would be exactly the same (just fish shaped lol) so im pretty excited to try them
Chelsey, I haven’t looked for them at the store yet, but I believe that is where people said they found them, just by the other Goldfish. I know many have spotted them at Target for sure. These aren’t as crunchy as cheese nips are, they are a little closet to the texture of those Cheetos Puffs if you’ve ever had those.
